The Association shall comprise of registered and chartered members operating at the state and local levels in the Americas.

Regular Membership shall include current and retired Liberian journalists residing in the Americas.

Membership in ALJA shall be obtained at a chapter level through the completion of a registration process and the payment of registration fees. To be certified as regular ALJA member, an individual must be registered with his local/her local ALJA chapter. If there is no local ALJA chapter, the individual must seek membership in the nearest ALJA chapter.

Membership fees shall be paid annually to the Association. The fees in the various membership categories shall be determined from time to time by the Board of Directors upon commendation of the National Administration through the National President.

An active member shall be a certified member who is current with all fees and dues to ALJA and to his/her local ALJA chapter and who attended the preceding National convention or attended at least two (2 ) regular meetings of his/her local ALJA chapter in the last 12 months and who is a legal resident of the Americas.
