ALJA President Appoints Additional Elections Commissioners

Minneapolis, Minnesota: The President of the Association of Liberian Journalists in the Americas, ALJA Mr. Joe Mason has appointed two additional members to the Elections Commission of the Association. Those appointed include Mr. McGill Borbor and Mrs. Pauletta Synder Innocent.

The newly appointed committee members will join Rev. Suah Deddeh, Dr. Alex Redd, and Mrs. Kadiatu Konteh-Brohiri to oversee the conduct of the National Elections of the Association scheduled to be held on the 25th of September 2021 during the National Convention of ALJA in Trenton, New Jersey. All positions which constitute ALJA’s Executive Committee including the National President, Vice President, Secretary-General, Assistant Secretary-General, and Treasurer are up for elections.

In a release from the Association issued on August 3, 2021, President Mason thanked Commissioners Borbor and Synder-innocent for accepting to serve on the Elections Commission and urged them to approach their responsibilities with the utmost commitment and diligence.

Commissioners Deddeh, Konteh-Brohiri, and Redd were appointed by former President Moses Sandy and oversaw the conduct of the 2019 National elections which ushered in the leadership of President Mason

The ALJA constitution empowers the President of the Association to appoint a five-member Elections Commission who shall have no term of limit for service. The Commission is expected to meet shortly to discuss guidelines for the pending elections.
