Minneapolis, Minnesota: The Association of Liberian Journalists in the Americas (ALJA) in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) on Sunday, February 6, 2022 completed the third round of its Covid 19 vaccination exercise in an effort to get more people especially minorities vaccinated.
Community members from Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Robbinsdale, and surrounding neighborhoods participated in the vaccine exercise. A number of ALJA members including National President Joe Mason, Midwest Chapter President, Lincoln Bryant, and Success Minor also of the Midwest chapter volunteered at the event. Former ALJA Vice President Pewee Baysah served as the Minnesota Department of Health liaison at the event.
Since September of last year, the Association, especially its Minnesota Chapter, has been actively engaged in mobilizing racial and ethnic minority groups that are disproportionately affected by the Covid 19 pandemic to get their vaccination as part of the organization’s community engagement efforts. ALJA believes it has a responsibility to be actively involved in the national fight against Covid 19.
The ongoing vaccination clinics which are free are available for everyone ages 5 and above and are held at a three-week interval. The next exercise is scheduled for February 27 at the Faith Chapel Evangelistic Ministries in Robbinsdale, Minnesota.
